A Cheerful Country Cottage

Set in the rolling hills of Maryland, this project began with simple, cottage architecture. Our client asked for a comfortable, casual, room using a mix of colors and patterns. Other priorities for this space included comfortable places for reading, relaxing, watching TV, and entertaining.

One of the biggest challenges for the design was the space plan for this long, narrow, room. We began by dividing the room into two sitting areas: one area by the fireplace with chairs for reading and a larger area with sofas for watching TV and entertaining. Now the room has a better traffic flow, comfort, and plenty of seating.
