Crafting Open Spaces

Removing a wall and adding architectural interest transformed a once traditional living room/dining room into an open, light-filled space. Taking our cues from the clients interest in the craftsman style, we blended arts-and-crafts architectural details with current, transitional-style furniture pieces. The end product is an open and unified space for entertaining and relaxing.

We began with a new space plan for the rooms, placing furniture in the middle of the living room to create an engaging, intimate, seating arrangement.
The bow-window, now adorned with antique leaded glass windows, becomes the focal point of the room
The furniture is a combination of new and antique pieces from the client.
Elegant, silk, ready-made drapery panels soften the walls. The panels were altered to the correct length. Hung just under the crown moulding, the panels add height and drama to the space.
Repetition of pattern and shape ties the rooms together...as seen in the X-design of the lounge chairs, dining chairs, lanterns on the window sill, and the leaded glass windows.
Accessories and accent lighting add punches of color, texture, and pattern to the rooms.
