Interior Designer, Allied ASID
Meredith first realized her interest in art and design when she was in middle school. Her 7th grade art teacher encouraged Meredith to develop her gift for drawing, which she continued in high school by taking art classes and exploring black and white photography.
Meredith went on to study both Architecture and Interior Design at Auburn University, completing a BS in Interior Design, where she graduated with Honors. Her forte is interior architecture, which can be defined as combining elements of interior design with the history and construction knowledge of architecture to form unified, functional, and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces.
Meredith's design approach was greatly influenced during the five years she lived in Spain and England. During these years, she continued her design education by taking classes in European art/architectural history—focusing on Spanish, Italian, and British art and architecture. She is able to reference many historical styles and is comfortable working in all modes of design from traditional to contemporary.
Meredith's design career has led her down many paths. She has a broad resume of professional experience, including: designing for a model home firm in California, being creative with budgets, specifications, and commercial spaces when she worked as a base interior designer for the Air Force, and focusing on hospitality design as a senior designer for a firm in England. One of her favorite projects was designing and managing the renovation of 10 suites and the dining room at The Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath, England. The scope of this project combined the need to be sensitive with an 18th century historic site, while providing modern conveniences for today's travelers.
Before founding Tuscan Blue Design, Meredith was a senior designer/project manager at a small design firm in Central Maryland. While there, her work focused on upscale residential design.
