A Home Office that Invites Creative Inspiration
In the midst of a global pandemic, many homeowners were forced to work remotely. With kids at home and spouses sharing workspace, having a comfortable and inviting home office was key for these return clients.
Tuscan Blue Design was asked to continue the style that we established on the first floor in 2018. Mid-century modern touches, two work spaces, a craft area for the kids, a reading spot, and the clients’ favorite colors—blue and orange—were all on the design table.
Our solution? A combination of cozy, attractive, and functional. Builder-grade carpet was replaced with a more luxe custom option. Practical and good-looking lighting was installed in the form of rustic swing arm sconces and a funky chandelier. The bookcases on either side of one desk feature tons of storage and filing space and give the feel of built-in cabinetry. We used tables with forged metal legs and wood tops for both desk areas; tables make fantastic desks and offer a lot of surface space. For the kids’ craft space, we utilized a small closet and turned it into a creative work area. Neutral colors were balanced out by a rich blue accent wall, patterned curtains, and a comfy orange chair.
The circumstances that required a home office weren’t ideal or expected, but this redesigned home office will offer an appealing option for work, creative projects, and relaxing.
