Meredith Ericksen

Interior Designer, Allied ASID

Meredith Ericksen, principal partner in Tuscan Blue Design, has been creating interior spaces in both the residential and the commercial design field since the late 1980s. She graduated from Auburn University's School of Architecture with a BS in Interior Design and is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

Her forte is interior architecture, which can be defined as combining elements of interior design with the history and construction knowledge of architecture to form unified, functional, and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces. Meredith's design approach was greatly influenced during the five years she lived in Spain and England. During these years, she continued her design education by taking classes in European art/architectural history—focusing on Spanish, Italian, and British art and architecture. She is able to reference many historical styles and is comfortable working in all modes of design from traditional to contemporary.

Meredith's design career has led her down many paths. She has a broad resume of professional experience, including: designing for a model home firm in California, being creative with budgets, specifications, and commercial spaces when she worked as a base interior designer for the Air Force, and focusing on hospitality design as a senior designer for a firm in England. One of her favorite projects was designing and managing the renovation of 10 suites and the dining room at The Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath, England. The scope of this project combined the need to be sensitive with an 18th century historic site, while providing modern conveniences for today's travelers.

Before co-founding Tuscan Blue Design, Meredith was a senior designer/project manager at a small design firm in Central Maryland. While there, her work focused on upscale residential design.

Laura Caccese

Interior Designer, Allied ASID

Laura Caccese, principal partner in Tuscan Blue Design, began her professional interior design career in 1986 after graduating from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Interior Design.

Prior to co-founding Tuscan Blue Design, she worked as a professional interior designer in several capacities. Laura worked for a home builder, where she helped home buyers customize house plans to meet their specific needs and select interior and exterior finishes for their homes. She also spent many years working for a small Frederick, Maryland-based interior design firm, where she worked on a vast array of projects—both commercial and residential.

Laura has broad professional expertise. She has designed and managed many design projects from initial concept through final completion of the project. Her many design talents include space planning, furniture layout and specification, lighting design and specification, kitchen and bath design, custom window treatment design, color scheme development, specification of all interior finishes, custom cabinetry design, and accessorizing. Her extensive project management experience includes overseeing the installation of all aspects of a project and supervision of subcontractors. She is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

In addition to designing the interiors of many homes, Laura has been instrumental in the design of a community college administrative building, bank branches, and professional offices.
