"Ed and I want to thank you both for all you did to create a warm and inviting family room that is better than we ever dreamed possible. Because of our passion for Victorian antiques and my exacting taste in fabrics, I never thought a designer would ever be able to come close to what we wanted.

"We are so amazed that you both knew what we would like and how to pull it all together without us even knowing its potential ourselves."

Family Room Reflects Client's Victorian Style

The clients for this family room renovation are avid collectors of original Victorian piecesfrom furniture to light fixtures. Our challenge was to create an updated, practical, family room that reflects the Victorian style that they love.

The focal point of the room is the fireplace, which we transformed by re-facing the existing rugged brick face with an elegant, carved oak mantel and legs.
Large two-story windows gave us the perfect opportunity to soften and frame the room using simple drapery panels in a beautiful fabric with Victorian details such as long fringe and tassels.
An innovative layout of existing and new furniture creates two groupings that help fill this large space.
Originally an antique buffet, the unique and beautiful TV cabinet blends antiques with modern day elements. We took off the top of the buffet and hung it on the wall to house a new flat-screen TV, and the base became the console for the electronic components.
The last phase of the design was working with the homeowners to select and place their treasured Victorian art and accessory collection.

This room is now a warm, inviting space that is pleasing to the eye and functions well for this busy family.
